Eating with Elephants was set up by Janice Johnson, and is a unique underground dining experience. Each dinner is themed around an 'elephant in the room' - an issue or experience many of us share but avoid talking about out loud. The aim of Eating with Elephants is to help the world share more, hide less, and break the silence of social isolation through storytelling while enjoying a delicious multi-course meal.
In teams, agree on a topic you would like your dinner guests to discuss. Draw up a list of 6-8 guests whom you would like to invite and create a 3-course meal that complements the topic being discussed. Think about the sorts of backgrounds, jobs, or interests your guests might have that would make the discussion interesting and lively!
What do I need to do?
Challenge Checklist
Agree on a topic; this could be something dominating the news currently or something your group feels strongly about.
Thinking about the topic you have agreed on, consider what sort of guests you would like to invite to your dinner. Think about people who would agree or disagree on the topic and who might create a lovely and engaging discussion.
Now that you have your topic and guests agreed upon, what would you like them to eat while they are busy talking and sharing their views? Could the food be of a particular nationality that would provide context and a good backdrop for the discussion?
Please present your ideas to us either through 3 simple PowerPoint slides explaining the above, or put your presentation skills on show and present it to us in no more than 60 seconds. This can be submitted as a video.
